An-eX

An-eX was founded in 1988 and in May 2007 expanded from their longstanding location leased from Cardiff University to CBTC2 on Capital Business Park.

An-eX offers a range of specialist contract research and development services in the dermal area to the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, chemical and agrochemical industries. The research and development activities of the company are focused primarily in the dermal field and include prediction of dermal permeation, formulation development, formulation evaluation, assessment of bioequivalence, skin penetration enhancement or retardation, demonstration of efficiency, claim substantiation and risk assessment. In vitro human skin permeation studies are routinely performed according to the OECD 428 and other appropriate guidelines.

In addition to work for commercial clients, An-eX has carried out substantial projects in collaboration with pan-industry bodies, such as the Cosmetic Toiletries and Fragrance Association (CTFA) and the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) on areas of generic importance. Data generated in the An-eX laboratories has been included in numerous successful submissions to a range of international bodies. The company has taken part in inter-laboratory method validation studies and has been involved in the development of position papers for international bodies such as the World Health Organisation’s International Programme on Chemical Safety. An-eX personnel have also organised the highly successful International Perspectives in Percutaneous Penetration Conference since 1992.

A cornerstone in the successful development of the company over the past two decades has been the recognition of the vital importance of a thoroughly professional approach to all aspects of the contract research and development process. An-eX has developed its management strategy which has resulted in both a rapid expansion of our client base and a significant quantity of repeat business from satisfied clients.

An-eX works to fully – documented quality assurance procedures and has a record of generation of the highest quality data in the dermal area over twenty years. The company’s client portfolio is very diverse, ranging from major multinational companies to speculative start-up operations. The majority of studies are carried out under strict confidentiality constraints but data from other projects are in the public domain. The directors and their supporting staff are highly qualified and have wide-ranging academic, industrial and research experience, as demonstrated by several hundred publications.
